METHODS

Neuroscience for Change

Neuroscience is the science of the brain and the nervous system.  By using neuroscience of change techniques we help teenagers and young adults understand their own brain. When they understand their own brain, we can communicate to them how learning and change happens and it puts them in the driver’s seat. It gives them the power to start to steer the vehicle of change which is their own brain and body, their whole self.

When you understand the chemistry of cooking, you can go into the kitchen and create something impromptu that will come out great and taste great.  When we understand the underlying principles behind what we do we can become more improvisational and creative.

To create change we help teenagers and young adults get emotionally engaged with the change they want to make and then help them step into practice with some repeated action that will help then make that change second nature. Through neuroscience we not only look at the brain but the whole nervous system and the ways in which our understanding is deeply embodied. Making self-awareness and kindness the basis for meaningful transformation.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy is the use of advanced methods of hypnosis sometimes combined with other techniques for the treatment and alleviation of a variety of physical and psychological symptoms.

Hypnosis is a completely natural and familiar state. We all move in and out of an hypnotic state all day long. For instance, sometimes we go into this state when we’re driving, absorbed watching TV, or just making coffee in the morning.

Hypnosis is a state where the nervous system is relaxed and we are highly concentrated and able to increase awareness of the subconscious mind and access it without resistance. All our beliefs, emotions, habits, values, protective reactions, imagination, intuition reside there. It is a state from which we can make extremely powerful changes in our lives because it is the state in which we are most receptive, creative and intuitive.  When we are relaxed and feeling safe, we become open to suggestions. This allows for brain wave state shifts to take place to alleviate stress and anxiety and promote wellness and recovery.

Rapid Transformation Therapy (RTT)

Rapid Transformational Therapy ( RTT) is a one of a kind hybrid therapy that offers unparalleled results combining the most beneficial principles of Hypnotherapy, NLP, modern psychology, and Psychotherapy.  Developed by the acclaimed Marisa Peer who has fine-tuned this method over 30 years, it is highly effective in bringing rapid and permanent lasting change.

RTT uses hypnosis and various therapeutic tools and works by removing old patterns of behaviour that are deep rooted and replaces them with new positive beliefs and behaviours. It allows access to the subconscious mind, where all our experiences are stored, and effectively understand how, why, and where the beliefs were first formed. This heightened state of self-awareness gives the subconscious more control (bypassing the inner chat), and accesses beliefs formed years ago to find the “root” cause of the issue and to become receptive to suggestions.

RTT also uses customised and personalised language that sparks the teenager and young adult s imagination, followed up with a personalised recording. Listening daily for at least 21 days creates new connections between neurons. As new brain pathways are strengthened, new behaviours become second nature.

Breathwork and Visualisation

Breathwork is an important and effective relaxation technique for teens and young adults.

It has been shown to reduce stress, depression and anxiety and increase alertness. It helps to restore balance and encourage positive mental health habits.

Conscious, controlled breathing is one of the easiest and most immediate ways to relax the nervous system. Slowing the breath moves us into the relaxation response governed by the parasympathetic nervous system.

Teens can effectively use a deep breathing exercise to relax before tests, calm down when they’re feeling upset or stressed, and get to sleep more easily. When we create space with the breath, we create space in the mind for quiet alertness and concentration.

Our breathing exercises are effective tools for calming the nervous system and work in a short amount of time.

Positive visualization also builds relaxation skills for teenagers. Mental imagery and visualization are powerful tools for dissolving physical and mental tension. When teenagers practice positive visualization, they learn how to regulate their emotions and relieve stress

HeartMath

Most of us have been taught in school that the heart is constantly responding to “orders” sent by the brain in the form of neural signals. However, it is not as commonly known that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart! Moreover, these heart signals have a significant effect on brain function – influencing emotional processing as well as higher cognitive faculties such as attention, perception, memory, and problem-solving. In other words, not only does the heart respond to the brain, but the brain continuously responds to the heart.

For more than 25 years, HeartMath Institue has been researching the heart-brain connection and learning how the heart influences our perceptions, emotions, intuition and health.

HeartMath helps you to tap into the power and intelligence of your heart  - your heart’s intuition - which awakens you to the best version of yourself.

Working with heartmath provides evidence based treatment to improve common symptoms of trauma to include problems with attention, emotion regulation, learning, sleep, anxiety and depression. It also improves psycoligical and emotional resilience.
